The BOS Date Guide lists Canvasback as 'all year', but this species is unusual after mid-May. This male was photographed by Willie D'anna at Fort Niagara SP on the 3rd.

Willie D'anna captured this image of the adult Black-legged Kittiwake in flight off the Olcott Pier on the 10th. Note the petite, all-yellow bill and solid black wing tips...oh yeah, and the black legs!

This Brewster's Warbler posed nicely for Moe Aderman on the 4th along Sour Springs Road, Basom, NY. This is the more commonly encountered hybrid between Blue-winged x Golden-winged Warblers.

This Acadian Flycatcher was photographed on territory by Bill Massaro at Ayers Stevenson Preserve in southern Erie County. This species is a local breeder in the southern tier along wooded ravines, especially where Hemlock trees are present.

Not a great photo, but I love observing breeding behavior and was thrilled to see this begging Brown Thrasher fledgling at Times Beach on the 15th while I was watching Baltimore Orioles feeding their young!

In farnham on the 11th, this beautiful Cerulean Warbler was seen catching and carrying food to its young just moments after this photo was taken. You just never know what you're going to see when atlasing!
