Ten BOS members joined Alec Humann at Cape May, NJ for a 4-day birding blitz. We had perfect weather with lots of birds. Our group tallied 135 species for the four days we birded many of the Cape May hotspots. Here is a link to our trip report with photos.

We enjoyed a fun afternoon out on the saltmarsh aboard The Osprey with Captain Bob Lubberman. The pontoon-style boat was very stable and offered us beautiful views.

At the start of our trip aboard The Osprey, we traveled along the rock jetty protecting the Cape May Canal and enjoyed great views of many shorebirds and terns including these American Oystercatchers.

Our group was very lucky in that we got to see a recently banded Swainson’s Hawk at a demo by the hawkwatch platform at Cape May Point SP.
